NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MARATHON COUNTY SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT
SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT STRATEGIC PLAN 2026-2030
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Marathon County Solid Waste Management Board on Monday, December 8th, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Wisconsin Room of the Marathon County Lake View Conference Center, located at 1000 Lake View Drive, Wausau, WI 54403. The purpose of the hearing is to review and consider adoption of the Solid Waste Department Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
This plan is intended to:
• Guide SWD operations over the next 5 years, in conjunction with the County's Strategic Plan.
• Direct SWD program management and development, and partnerships that support achievement of the County and Solid Waste Management goals.
• Advance the SWD's vision of being an integrated waste management system of choice, fostering economic development while protecting human health and the environment.
A draft copy of the strategic plan is available for public inspection during business hours at the offices of the Conservation, Planning & Zoning Department at 1100 Lake View Drive, Suite 400, Wausau, WI 54403 OR the Marathon County Clerk's Office, Courthouse, 500 Forest Street, Wausau, WI, 54403 OR the Solid Waste Department at 172900 State Highway 29, Ringle, WI 54471, OR on the Marathon County Solid Waste Department Website at: www.marathoncounty.gov/solidwaste
At the hearing, interested persons will have an opportunity to be heard with respect to the proposed plan. Interested persons may submit oral or written comments regarding the project at the hearing. In the event interested persons are unable to attend the hearing, they may submit written comments prior to the hearing by emailing Jeff.Pritchard@marathoncounty.gov. Please include "SWD Strategic Plan" in the subject line.
