City of Mount Vernon
PUBLIC NOTICE OF TAX SALE
On December 16, 2025 at 10 A.M., the City of Mount Vernon will conduct a public sale of tax liens covering overdue real property taxes and related charges. The sale is being conducted pursuant to Section 162 of the City Municipal Code and will be held at the Mount Vernon City Hall–City Council Chambers, 1 Roosevelt Square.
An owner or person having an interest in a property on which a tax lien is scheduled to be sold on December 16th, may have the property excluded from sale by paying all unpaid taxes, interest and penalties together with the costs and charges for advertising, printing, publishing and posting notices of the sale.
A successful tax lien purchaser is required to make a down payment of ten percent (10%) of the lien at the time of purchase. The balance of the purchase price is due and payable within fifteen (15) days from the sale date and is payable to the City of Mt. Vernon by certified or official bank check.
A detailed printed statement of each listed property, including its description and the amount of its tax lien is available from the Office of the City Comptroller. An interested person can receive a copy of the statement by applying in person at the Comptroller’s Office between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. In addition, the Comptroller’s Office has posted the list on the City website (www.cmvny.com).
