ORDINANCE
An Ordinance to amend Section 11.220 of the Manitowoc Municipal Code regulating Animal Licenses.
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Manitowoc do ordain as follows:
Section 1. Section 11.220 is amended to read as follows:
"11.220 Animal Licenses.

(4) Chickens. No person shall keep, raise, possess or have under such person's control, either temporarily or permanently, any chickens or ducks without first obtaining a license issued by the City Clerk. The license should be obtained as soon as the fowl are added to the premises and must be renewed annually.

(c) Minimum Requirements. The chickens shall be provided with a covered enclosure and must be kept in the covered enclosure or fenced enclosure at all times. The enclosure shall be located at least 25 feet from any residential structure on an adjacent lot. The applicant for license must notify all residents of the property and the owner of the property if the applicant is not the owner or operator after applying for the initial license. The Chief of Police or their designees shall verify that the property meets these requirements prior to issuance of the license. The applicant shall allow the Chief of Police or their designees access at any and all times to further inspect the property while the permit is in effect as an absolute condition of holding the permit. Notification and reinspection is are not needed required for renewal of a license.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect the day after publication.
