THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION – HIGHWAY DIVISION NOTICE OF A DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING   Mattapoisett – Corridor Improvements and Related Work on Main Street, Water Street, Beacon Street and Marion Road Project File No. 607440 A Design Public Hearing will be held to present the design for the proposed project in Mattapoisett, MA. WHERE: Old Rochester Regional High School Auditorium 135 Marion Road Mattapoisett, MA 02739 WHEN: Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 6:30PM PURPOSE: The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible. PROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of the reconstruction of Main Street, Water Street, Beacon Street and Marion Road between Tobey Lane and Route 6 (a total distance of approximately 1.39 miles). The project will include construction of new concrete sidewalks, varying in width from 5 feet to 11 feet wide, on at least one side of the roadway for the entire length. Other improvements consist of replacement of the existing closed drainage and water distribution systems, and full-depth pavement reconstruction. A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the hearing.
