ORDINANCE NO. 160 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF ROLAND, IOWA, BY AMENDING PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO COUNCIL BE IT ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Roland, Iowa: SECTION 1. NEW SUBSECTION. The Code of Ordinances of the City of Roland, Iowa, is amended by adding a new Subsection 6 to Section 17.04, entitled CANCELLATION OF COUNCIL MEETINGS, which is hereby adopted to read as follows: 6. Cancellation of Council Meetings. The Council shall have the sole authority to cancel a Council meeting. SECTION 2. SECTION MODIFIED. Section 17.05 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Roland, Iowa, is repealed and the following adopted in lieu thereof: 17.05 APPOINTMENTS. The Council shall appoint the following officials and prescribe their powers, duties, compensation and term of office: City Clerk - Treasurer.City Attorney.City Manager – Public Works Director.Planning and Zoning Commission. SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. WHEN EFFECTIVE. This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its final passage, approval, and publication as provided by law.
