LEGAL NOTICE CITY OF YORK, PA NOTICE OF PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT (BILL NO. 34) YORK CITY COUNCIL Notice is hereby given that York City Council will hold a public meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM, in City Council Chambers, 101 S. George St., York, PA, to consider final passage of Bill No. 34 of 2025, introduced December 2, 2025. Said Bill amends the city’s Zoning Ordinance to update definitions of Family and Rooming House/Boarding House. The ordinance clarifies that a family may consist of related persons or up to two unrelated persons (plus children, servants, or guests) living together as a single housekeeping unit. Roomers and boarders are excluded. It further defines “single housekeeping unit” and clarifies that single-family dwellings must be occupied by one family. Rooming/boarding houses are defined as buildings for up to three roomers, accessory to a single-family dwelling. The ordinance contains a severability clause and will take effect as provided by law.
