NOTICE OF INTENT TO MODIFY A PERMIT AUTHORIZING THE USE OF WATER FOR GOLF COURSE IRRIGATION IN DALLAS COUNTY, IOWA
Hillcrest Country Club, Iowa DNR Log Number 34,139, requests to modify an existing water use permit (No. 2639-M7), authorizing to withdraw water directly from the North Raccoon River and from a Dallas County gravel pit, and from a North Raccoon River alluvial well, approximately 45 feet deep, all in the NE ¼ of Section 28, T79N, R27W, Dallas County, Iowa, in the maximum total quantity of 50 acre-feet per year at a maximum rate from each source up to 290 gallons per minute; storage of said water in a golf course irrigation pond (aka "Hillcrest Pond") with a surface area of about 1.5 acres; withdrawal of water from said irrigation pond in the maximum quantity of 50 acre-feet per year at a maximum rate of 400 gallons per minute, for a maximum cumulative total quantity of 100 acre-feet per year at a maximum cumulative instantaneous rate of 1270 gallons per minute, all during the period of April 1 through October 31 of each year, for irrigation of a nine-hole golf course located on land generally described as part of the SE ¼ of the SE ¼ of Section 21, part of the SW ¼ of the SW ¼ of Section 22, and part of the N ½ of the NE ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 28, all in T79N, R27W, Dallas County, Iowa.
The Department has determined that this use of water conforms to the relevant criteria (Iowa Code Chapter 455B and Iowa Administrative Code 567) and recommends the permit be granted. A copy of the summary report for the application is available upon request to the Department at the address listed above. Comments on the report and on this use of water must be received by January 20, 2026, and should be addressed "ATTN: Erik Day" and should specify the applicant's log number (Log Number 34,139).
