NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE
FALLSBURG CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT,
SULLIVAN AND ULSTER COUNTIES, NEW YORK
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF FALLSBURG CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, SULLIVAN AND ULSTER COUNTIES, NEW YORK:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Education of the Fallsburg Central School District, Sullivan and Ulster Counties, New York (the “District”), has scheduled a special meeting of the qualified voters of said District to be held in the Board Meeting Room at the Fallsburg Junior-Senior High School, 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg, New York 12733, on February 3, 2026 or, in the event of a weather or other emergency which necessitates the cancellation of the February 3, 2026 meeting, on February 5, 2026, with polls to be open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. for the purpose of voting upon the following propositions:
PROPOSITION NO. 1 – CAPITAL PROJECT
SHALL the Board of Education (the “Board”) of the Fallsburg Central School District (the “District”) be hereby authorized to undertake a capital improvement project consisting of (i) the construction of alterations, renovations, improvements and additions to the District’s school buildings and associated facilities, including the Elementary School and the Middle/High School; (ii) related site improvements for various school purposes; (iii) the acquisition and installation in and around the foregoing improvements of original furnishings, equipment, machinery, and apparatus; and (iv) all appurtenant, related and incidental improvements, and other costs and services incidental to the foregoing; all at a total estimated maximum cost not to exceed $56,550,000, with such cost being by the expenditure of $5,000,000 (with interest) from the District’s 2018 Capital Reserve Fund and up to $5,850,000 from the District’s 2023 Capital Reserve Fund (said funds being established pursuant to propositions approved by the qualified voters of the District on March 19, 2018 and March 22, 2023, respectively), and with the balance thereof, not to exceed $45,700,000, being raised by a tax upon the taxable property of said District to be levied and collected in annual installments in such amounts and in such years as may be determined by the Board as provided in Section 416 of the Education Law, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefore, and in anticipation of such tax, by obligations of said District as may be necessary?
PROPOSITION NO. 2 – LAND ACQUISITION CAPITAL PROJECT
SHALL the Board of Education (the “Board”) of the Fallsburg Central School District (the “District”) be authorized to acquire adjoining property to the District at 28 Old Falls Road, Fallsburg, New York, to be used for District purposes, including any appurtenant, related and incidental improvements, and other costs and services incidental to the foregoing; with such cost being raised by the expenditure of up to $500,000 from the District’s 2023 Capital Reserve Fund (said fund being established pursuant to a proposition approved by the qualified voters of the District on March 22, 2023)?
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots for voting on the above-referenced proposition may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk, 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg, New York 12733. Any such application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the date of the vote on the above-referenced proposition, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before such vote, if the ballot is to be picked up personally by the voter. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for public inspection during regular business hours in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election except Sunday. Absentee ballots must be received in the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on February 3, 2026.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that applications for early mail ballots for voting on the above-referenced proposition may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk, 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg, New York 12733. Applications must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the election if the early mail ballot is to be mailed to the voter (January 27, 2026) or the day before the election (February 2, 2026), if the ballot is to be issued in person to the voter. A list of all persons to whom early ballots shall have been issued will be available for public inspection during regular business hours in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election except Sunday during regular office hours until the day of the election. Early ballots must be received in the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. local time on February 3, 2026; and
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that military voters who are defined by Commissioner’s Regulation Part 11, who are qualified voters as of the District may apply for a military ballot during normal business hours or by requesting an application from the Office of the District Clerk, 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg, New York 12733. In a request for a military ballot application/military ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application/military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. Ballots for military voters shall be mailed, or otherwise distributed, no later than twenty-five (25) days prior to the date of the vote. As such, all completed military ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on February 3, 2026.
