PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 19.1 of Title 42 and Section 9038.39 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, that the Board of Commissioners of the Walnut Street Special District, acting as the governing authority of the Walnut Street Special District, City of Monroe, State of Louisiana (the "District") at its regularly scheduled meeting on January 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at its regular meeting place, The Hotel Monroe lobby conference room, 120 Walnut Street, Monroe, Louisiana, will conduct a public hearing with respect to its intent to levy and collect a hotel occupancy tax of two percent (2.00%) (the "Occupancy Tax") upon the paid occupancy of hotel rooms solely within the boundaries of the District pursuant to the authority of La. R.S. 33:9038.39. The Occupancy Tax is separate and in addition to other occupancy taxes currently levied in the District. The proceeds of the Occupancy Tax shall be dedicated and used for the purposes of economic development in the District, including promoting visitation and tourism within and about the District. There are no residents in the District, and the Occupancy Tax will be limited to and levied only with respect to hotels in the District namely, The Hotel Monroe, and no other businesses or hotels in the City of Monroe or the Parish of Ouachita will be affected.
