SCHOOL BOARD OF LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT, PROPOSED RULE MAKING, AND PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on January 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., The School Board of Lee County, Florida ("School Board"), will meet in the School Board Meeting Room at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida at the School Board Workshop for the purpose of rule development concerning the revision or adoption of the following: Policy 0100 - Definitions Policy 1430.01 - FMLA Leave Policy 3430.01 - FMLA Leave Policy 4430.01 - FMLA Leave Policy 5136.01 - Technology Resources and Other Electronic Equipment Policy 7250 - Commemoration of School Facilities Policy 8606 - Use of Wireless Communication Devices by District School Bus Operators Policy 8625 - Ban on Texting While Driving The above policies are being revised in compliance with changes in related rules, regulations, and statutes; to adopt best practices and to promote transparency and accountability. Thereafter, the School Board will meet on February 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the above referenced location to conduct a Public Hearing to consider adoption of the above-mentioned School Board Rule. Notice of Rule Development is contained herein. The effective date of the items mentioned above is February 11, 2026. A draft of the proposed Rule may be viewed during normal business hours in the Communications Center at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida. The Superintendent has determined that there will be no adverse economic impact resulting from the proposed adoption set forth above. It is not expected that the proposed rule will require legislative ratification. Any person wishing to appeal any decision made by the School Board at a meeting or hearing will need a verbatim record of the proceedings. This record must include testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
