NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Board of Education, a Special Meeting of the qualified voters of the Nyack Union Free School District, Towns of Orangetown and Clarkstown, Rockland County, New York, will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the polling places in the respective election districts described below, for the purpose of voting on the library budget for library purposes for the Valley Cottage Free Library and Nyack Library for the 2026-2027 school year. Hours of voting at the Valley Cottage Free Library will be between the hours of 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM, prevailing time. Hours of voting at the Nyack Library will be between the hours of 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM, prevailing time.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public Informational Budget Session on the proposed increase in the library budgets of The Valley Cottage Free Library and Nyack Library for the 2026-2027 school year will be held at: Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway, Nyack, NY on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 7:00PM.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a copy of the respective budgets for public library purposes for the 2026-2027 school year will be on file during the seven (7) days immediately preceding the vote at the Valley Cottage Free Library, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Friday and Saturday, and 12 Noon and 4:00 PM Sunday, and at Nyack Library between the hours of 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday, 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Friday, 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM Saturday, and between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM Sunday.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that personal registration of voters is required pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education law or pursuant to Article 5 of the Election Law. The register of the qualified voters of said School District prepared at the Annual Meeting held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 shall be used by said Board of Registration as the basis for the preparation of the register for said vote to be held on February 10, 2026. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote in this election; if a voter is registered and eligible to vote in general, special and primary elections under Article 5 of the Election Law, he/she is also eligible to vote at this election. All other persons who wish to vote must register.
Residents of the Nyack Union Free School District who are U.S. Citizens and who will have resided within the District for thirty (30) days prior to February 10, 2026, who will have attained the age of eighteen (18) by that date, and are not otherwise prohibited from voting under the Election Law, may register at the Office of the District Clerk at the Administration Building, 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack, N.Y., between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Prevailing Time) any weekday until Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The register so prepared pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law will be filed in the Office of the Clerk of the School District at 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack, N.Y., and will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District beginning on Thursday, February 5, 2026, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Prevailing Time), on weekdays, and each day prior to the day set for the election and at the polling place(s) on the day of the vote.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots will be obtainable during school business hours from the District Clerk. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the vote, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM (Prevailing Time) on the day of the vote.
A list of persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for inspection in the office of the District Clerk on and after Thursday, February 5, 2026 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Prevailing Time) on weekdays and at the polling places on the day of the vote. Any qualified voter present in the polling places may object to the voting of the ballot upon appropriate grounds for making his/her challenge and the reasons therefor known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls.
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that, in accordance with Part 122 of the Rules and Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may request an application for a military ballot from the District Clerk at 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack, New York, 10960, by calling the District Clerk at (845) 353-7015, or by contacting the District Clerk via email at districtclerk@nyackschools.org. Upon such request, such military voter may indicate his/her preference for receiving the application for a military ballot by mail, facsimile or electronic mail. Completed military ballot applications must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026.
Military voters who are not currently registered with the School District may request an application for voter registration from the District Clerk at 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack, New York, 10960, by calling the District Clerk at (845) 353-7015 or by contacting the District Clerk via email at districtclerk@nyackschools.org. Upon such request, such military voter may indicate his/her preference for receiving the application for voter registration by mail, facsimile or electronic mail. Such voter registration application must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026. Any military voter shall be entitled to have his or her name placed upon such Register, provided he or she is known or proven to the satisfaction of the District Clerk to be then or thereafter entitled to military voter status to vote at said vote to be held on February 10, 2026.
A list of all persons to whom military ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the School District in the Office of the District Clerk for inspection during the five (5) days prior to said vote between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Prevailing Time), on weekdays, and at the polling places on the day of the vote.
For the purpose of said Special Meeting, the District is divided into election districts, as follows:
ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 1 – Polling place at The Nyack Library, 59 South Broadway, Nyack, New York: All those qualified voters residing in Nyack, Central Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack and Upper Grandview.
ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 2 – Polling place at the Valley Cottage Library, 110 Route 303, Valley Cottage, New York: All those qualified voters residing in Valley Cottage and the following streets in Nyack: Forest Ridge Road, Sugarhill Road, and Welles Lane.
