P.L. 99-499 is the Emergency Planning and Community Right ¬to-Know Act of 1986, Title III of the "Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986" (SARA).
Federal Law P.L. 99-499 was enacted in October 1986 by the U .S, Congress to protect and inform all citizens of the existence of hazardous chemicals that may be manufactured, stored, dis¬tributed or used in a community.
Information about these hazardous chemicals and locations within Oconto County is available for public review between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. by appointment, at the Emergency Management Office in the Oconto County Courthouse, 301 Washington Street, Oconto WI. 54153. The following information is available:
1. Lists of facilities reporting
2. Material Safety Data Sheet(s)
3. Inventory form(s) of chemicals
4. Emergency response plan(s)
5. Follow-up emergency notices from facilities (if any are filed.)
Telephone inquiries as to specific information contained in the files will not be accepted.
Copies of documents may be made at the expense of the requestor and at rates established by Oconto County.
Information available is limited to compliance with P.L. 99-499, chemicals that are air-borne and extremely toxic.
