The Mead Wildlife Area is applying for a permit to apply the aquatic herbicide Imazapyr to approximately 42 acres by spot treating foliar application at the following locations: Teal Flowage; T26N R5E S23 & S24, Pool 10 Flowage; T26N R6E S33. This application is for the control of Purple Loosestrife in wetland habitats. These waters are not used for irrigation or potable water use. There are no restrictions on fish consumption and there will be no recreational restrictions after the application. The treatment application will occur in July 2026. Warning signs will be posted at the access points to all areas prior to treatment. The applicant will hold a public informational meeting on the proposed treatments if five or more individuals, organizations, special units of government, or local units of government request one. The person or entity requesting the meeting shall state a specific agenda of topics including problems and alternatives to be discussed. The request for the public informational meeting must be sent in writing to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources –Mead Wildlife Area, Attention Zack Zuleger, 201517 County Road S, Milladore, WI 54454 within five days after the public notice is made.
