NOTICE OF ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that an election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in the City of Anderson to elect MAYOR and 4 COUNCIL MEMBERS. Seat 1, Seat 3, and Seat 5 are single-member districts. The Office of Mayor and At-Large Seat 7 will be elected at large. In addition, this will include a special election to elect a COUNCIL MEMBER to serve the unexpired term of Seat 2 which has been vacated. The term will expire on June 30, 2028. Any necessary run-off will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Any person wishing to vote in the election and run-off must register no later than Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The filing period for candidates begins Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 12:00 Noon, and filing ends Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 12:00 Noon. The filing for candidacy shall be initiated at the Anderson County Registration and Elections Office at 301 N. Main Street. Upon completion of the necessary candidacy forms, payment of the $300 (Mayor) $200 (Council) filing fee shall be submitted to the City Clerk and Treasurer at City Hall, 401 S. Main Street.
Polls shall be opened at 7:00 o’clock in the forenoon, and close at 7:00 o’clock in the afternoon of the day of the election, and shall be held open during these hours without intermission or adjournment. The Managers of Election shall see that each person offering to vote takes the oath that he is qualified to vote at this election according to the Constitution of this State and that he has not voted before in this election.
Voters who are blind, who are otherwise physically handicapped, or who are unable to read or write are entitled to assistance in casting their ballot. This assistance may be given by anyone the voter chooses except his employer, an agent of his employer, or an officer or agent of his union. The Managers must be notified if assistance is needed.
Voters who are unable to enter their polling place due to physical handicap or age may vote in the vehicle in which they drove, or were driven, to the polls. When notified, the Managers will help voters effectuate this curbside voting provision.
Registered electors who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Persons wishing more information concerning absentee voting should contact the County Board of Voter Registration at 260-4035.
At 9:00 a.m. on Election Day the Anderson Municipal Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at the Anderson County Registration and Elections Office, 301 N. Main Street, Anderson.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the Anderson County Registration and Elections Office, above address, the Anderson Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all ballots challenged in this election.

Calhoun Street; Anderson 3/1 – Anderson County Library, 300 N. McDuffie Street; Anderson 3/2 – Nevitt Forest Community School of Innovation, 1401 Bolt Drive; Anderson 4/1 – C.F. Reames Education Center, 1225 S.
