City of Kent
to Hold Public Meeting
Cuyahoga River Sanitary Sewer Relocation in the City of Kent
PUBLIC MEETING DATE:
Wednesday, January 28, 2026
TIME: 6:00 to 8:00pm
LOCATION: Council Chambers, Kent City Hall
319 South Water Street
Kent, OH 44240
Within the City of Kent there are many miles of infrastructure that keep things running smoothly, including water and sewer pipes. One critical sewer line is located along the Cuyahoga River from Summit Street to Fairchild Avenue. This sewer line has developed cracks, the embankment is eroding, and the structural supports are at risk of being undermined from flooding of the Cuyahoga River. All these issues put the critical sewer line at risk of failing. While a temporary repair was made in 2018, a permanent solution is needed. The most viable solution is to move the sewer lines away from the Cuyahoga River, which will require significant construction through downtown.
The purpose of this public meeting is to present and discuss the issue with the general public, residents, business and property owners and public officials and to solicit public comments regarding the proposed improvements and its social, economic, and environmental impacts. Representatives from the City of Kent will be present to discuss the project, as well as address any questions and concerns.
The project is in the early development stages, and the City welcomes comments or questions. These can be made to James Bowling, P.E., City Superintendent of Engineering, at (330) 678-8106 or at Jim.Bowling@KentOhio.gov
