NOTICE OF ELECTION
TOWN OF HAMPTON/GENERAL ELECTION
The Municipal Election Commission for the Town of Hampton announces that the Hampton Town Council Election for the office of two Council Members and one Mayor for a four-year term will be held at the Town Hall on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Further notice is hereby given that nominations for the office of two Council Members and one Mayor shall be received by the Town Clerk at said Town Hall by way of statement of candidacy. The books for filing statement of candidacy for nominations for candidates will open noon, January 26, 2026, and close no later than noon, February 6, 2026.
Before the hour affixed for opening the polls, the Managers must take and subscribe to the Constitutional Oath.
The polls shall be opened as such place and designated herein above at seven o’clock in the forenoon, and close at seven o’clock in the afternoon of the day of the election; and the Manager shall administer to each person offering to vote that he is qualified to vote at this election according to the Constitution of this State, and that he has not voted during this election.
At the close of the election, the Managers must proceed publicly to count the ballots therein, and continue without adjournment until the same is completed, and make a statement of the results for each office, and sign the same.
In order to vote in this election, persons must register no later than March 6, 2026.
Those persons wishing to vote absentee ballot must contact the County Board of Elections and Voter Registration at 201 Jackson Avenue, West, Hampton, SC.
At 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, the poll managers will begin examining the absentee ballot return envelopes. This examination will be held at the B.T. Deloach Building, A/B conference room, 201 Jackson Ave W., Hampton, S.C.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, 12:00 Noon at the Hampton Town Hall, the Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing to determine the validity of the ballots challenged in this election.
