Pelham Union Free School District
NOTICE
REQUEST FOR TRANSPORTATION TO NON-PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR MUST BE FILED BY APRIL 1, 2026
In accordance with Education Law and Board of Education policy, all requests for transportation of non-handicapped children to non-public schools must be submitted to the Board of Education office as described below:
All requests must be in WRITING. Application forms can be secured from the District website or from the Board of Education, Pelham Union Free School District, Business Office, 314 Pelhamdale Avenue, Pelham, New York 10803. Those presently receiving transportation will be sent the form automatically.
Applications must be received at the Board of Education office by April 1st, preceding the school year in which the transportation is to be provided, except for families who move into the district after April 1st. In these cases, applications must be submitted within 30 days after establishing residence.
A new written application must be submitted annually each school year. Applications must be limited to one school per student for each possible school choice. To ensure delivery and verification that the application has been received by the School District prior to the April 1st deadline, it is suggested that the application be submitted by certified return receipt requested mail, or that the application is hand delivered to the District Business Office and a dated receipt is obtained.
To qualify for transportation the school must be no farther than 15 miles from the student’s home. For elementary students (grades kindergarten through eight) the school must be at least two miles away. For secondary pupils (grades nine to twelve inclusive) the school must be at least three miles away.
