Regular Meeting
January 26, 2026
The meeting was called to order by President Schneider at 6:30 p.m.
Public notice of the meeting has been given in accordance with Wisconsin's Open Meetings Law contained in the Wisconsin Statutes, Subchapter V of Chapter 19.
Present: Schneider, Ziemer, Castillo, Van Aacken, Lodzinski, Schaffner, Streblow
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve the December 15, 2025, Regular Meeting minutes and the January 13, 2026, Board Study Session minutes, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
There were no citizens interested in addressing the Board of Education.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Castillo, resolved to approve the agenda as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Silver Spring Intermediate School Student representatives were present to update the Board regarding activities at Silver Spring Intermediate School.
Hamilton High School hosted inaugural Post-Secondary Planning Night for students and families.
Dr. Mielke highlighted a Hamilton High School sophomore student who earned gold in a national art contest.
The Hamilton School District received the "Captain of Industry Award" from the Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Mielke provided an update on the Senate and Assembly Floor calendar and meeting that took place January 21.
A Primary Election for the At-Large seat on the Hamilton Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17.
The next Super Connected Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 9 a.m.
Teacher in-service scheduled for February 16, 2026 and no school for students.
The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for February 16, 2026.
Motion by Ziemer, seconded by Lodzinski, resolved to approve the resignations of: Amanda Norris: Grade 5 Humanities Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year; Lasyris Knox: Custodian I, p.m. at Hamilton High School. Effective December 16, 2025; Kayla Zelinski: Associate Kitchen Employee at Maple Avenue Elementary School. Effective January 22, 2026; Kelly Rettler: Educational Support-Instructional and Supervision at Willow Springs Learning Center. Effective January 12, 2026; Brecken Ashenbrenner: Special Education Teacher (Replacement) at Silver Spring Intermediate School. Effective January 26, 2026, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Ziemer, seconded by Lodzinski, resolved to approve the retirements of: Charlotte Coe: Instructional Coach at Marcy Elementary School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year; Mary Zgonc: Grade 5 Humanities Teacher at Silver Spring Intermediate School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year; Toni Hillmann: Business Education Teacher at Hamilton High School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year; Brenda Savic: Business Education Teacher at Hamilton High School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year; Trisha Hanrahan: Grade 2 Teacher at Woodside Elementary School. Effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year, as presented. Voice vote. Effective January 16, 2026; Jill Howell: Associate Kitchen Employee at Maple Avenue Elementary School. Effective January 20, 2026, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Schaffner, resolved to approve the bill payments, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Schaffner, resolved to approve the agreement between the Hamilton School District and the Right at School, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve the Templeton Middle School Course Catalog for the 2026-27 school year, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Lodzinski, seconded by Castillo, resolved to approve the renewal of WIAA Cooperative Team Sponsorship Agreement for Girls' Hockey for 2026-27 and 2027-28, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Lodzinski, seconded by Schaffner, resolved to approve the renewal of WIAA Cooperative Team Sponsorship Agreement for Boys' Hockey for 2026-27 and 2027-28, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Lodzinski, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve the renewal of WIAA Cooperative Team Sponsorship Agreement for Boys' Swimming and Diving for 2026-27 and 2027-28, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Castillo resolved to approve the Co-Curricular and Extracurricular Activities Report and Recommendations, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Ziemer, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve the course modifications for Hamilton High School, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve R&R Insurance as Hamilton School District's Benefit Broker, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Schaffner, resolved to approve no new regular education open enrollment seats for the 2026-27 school year and place applicants on a waiting list for consideration as the district monitors enrollments, class sizes and space availability, and special education space available only as identified, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
The following board policies were brought for first reading: 341.10, Fitness Education Program This was an informational item and no action was necessary.
Motion by Streblow, seconded by Van Aacken, resolved to approve the Reviewed and Revised Board Policies: 662.2, Community Programs and Services; 673.1 Rule, Responsibilities and Guidelines for District Issued Credit Cards; 823, Access to Public Records; 823-Exhibit (1), Official Public Notice; 823-Exhibit (2), Notice to Employees; 823-Exhibit (3), Notice to a Current or Former Employee Who is the Subject of a Public Records Request; 823-Exhibit (4), Notice to an Individual Who Holds a Local Public Office Position and Who is the Subject of a Public Records Request; 823-Exhibit (5), Public Records Request Form and Fee Schedule, as presented. Voice vote. Motion carried.
Motion by Lodzinski, seconded by Ziemer, resolved to Adjourn Open Meeting and Move to Closed Session Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes 19.85 (1) (c) For the Purpose of Discussing the Evaluation of the Superintendent. Roll call vote. Yes: 7; No: 0. Motion carried. The open meeting was adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
