FRANCIS AND CITY OF SOUTH MILWAUKEE Voting By Absentee Ballot Spring Election on April 7, 2026 Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, and who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued. Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail. Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the Election. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, by fax, by email, at myvote.wi.gov or in person. The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2026, the fifth day before the election. Voters who are indefinitely confined due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability may not be required to provide photo ID. Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. Voting an absentee ballot in person You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk's office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person. Lake Dr., Cudahy WI, on weekdays between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. City Hall will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday, however, absentee voting will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled with the City Clerk no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Howard Ave., St. Francis WI on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. South Milwaukee residents should call the Clerk's office at 414-762-2222 or appear at South Milwaukee City Hall, 2424 15th Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 and 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026. The first day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk's office is Tuesday, March 24, 2026, which is 14 days before the election. The last day to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk's office is Friday, April 3, 2026, which is the Friday before the election. No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election. The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
