LEGAL NOTICE
The following are summaries of ordinances adopted by Canton City Council on Feb. 9, 2026. The complete text of the ordinances may be obtained for 10 cents per page or viewed free at the office of the Clerk of Council in City Hall, 218 Cleve. Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44702, during non-holiday weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ordinance No. 16/2026
The Mayor or Safety Director is authorized to enter into a contract with BRINC Drones via Motorola Solutions Inc. to establish a Drone as First Responder Program in accordance with any procurement process authorized by law. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 17/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into contract with the Stark County Public Defender Commission for the period of Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2027, with an option to renew for an additional one-year period commencing Jan. 1, 2028 through Dec. 31, 2028, for the provision of legal services for indigents charged with city ordinance violations in the Canton Municipal Court. A copy of the proposed contract is attached to the ordinance as Ex. A. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 18/2026
Ordinance No. 10/2024 is amended to establish the Classification Plan for the Law Dept.’s Mgt. and Non-Bargaining Unit Personnel employed by the city of Canton as shown in Ex. A of the ordinance. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are repealed. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 19/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into a Roadway Maintenance Agreement with the Board of Trustees, Canton Twp. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 20/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into a professional services contract with Burgess & Niple Ltd. in an amount not to exceed $130,930 for professional services related to the 2026 Large Diameter Sewer Cleaning and Inspection Project. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 21/2026
The Mayor or Service Director, or their designee, is authorized to accept easements granted to the city of Canton, for the ownership, operation and maintenance of realigned sanitary sewer crossing the two parcels within the Lincoln Elementary School (former Souers) – J. Babe Stearn Community Center project site and to make ministerial changes to correct property owner names, parcel numbers and other numerical descriptive or typographical errors, should they occur. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 22/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into a contract change order amendment/modification in an amount not to exceed $45,771.49 with RMI Cement, LLC for construction costs related to the 10th St. NW Sidewalk Replacement Project GP 1454. Council retroactively authorizes all actions taken in regards to the furtherance of the project prior to the finalization of said amendment/modification and authorizes the Auditor to pay all related moral obligations. Adopted as an emergency.
