THE TOWN OF ROCKLAND NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING AMENDMENTS
TO THE ZONING BY-LAWS - PLANNING BOARD
In accordance with Mass. Gen. L. c. 40A §5, the Town of Rockland Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing at 7:05 pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Rockland High School Lecture Hall, 52 MacKinlay Way, Rockland, MA 02370 to consider proposed changes and amendments to the Rockland General Code Zoning By-Laws and Zoning Map, to wit: Proposed Zoning Amendment(s) to ADU Zoning Bylaws, to Comply with ADU Regulations and to consider elimination of Site Plan Approval in all single-family districts ARTICLE# TBD - Will the Town vote to amend the Rockland Town Code, Division 3, Zoning Bylaws, Chapter 415 Zoning, Article II, Definitions, Article IV, Permitted Uses, and Article V, Building, Lot and General District Regulations, §415-32 Accessory apartment within single family dwelling, as follows: (1) By striking the definition in §415-2 of “Accessory Apartment” and replacing it with the following new definition “Protected Accessory Dwelling Unit (PADU)”; Changes to Accessory Structures Setback Requirements ARTICLE# TBD - Will the Town vote to amend Rockland Town Code, Division 3, Zoning Bylaws, Chapter 415 Zoning, Article V, Building, Lot and General District Regulations, §415-22 Building and lot regulations, by deleting §415-22.B(4) Accessory structures in its entirety and replacing it with a new subsection §415-22.B(4), as follows: (4) Accessory structures. (a) An accessory building, including a Protected Accessory Dwelling Unit (PADU), may not occupy more than 30% of a required yard. Any interested person(s) shall be given the opportunity to be heard. The full texts of the amendments and of these articles are available by requesting a copy from the Town Clerk’s office. The Rockland Planning Board will make recommendations and have a report relative to the adoption of the preceding articles at the Monday, May 4, 2026, Annual Town Meeting.
