NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR
AQUATIC PLANT MANAGEMENT PERMIT
The Village of Chenequa intends to apply for a permit from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to treat up to 75 acres Pine Lake with aquatic pesticides to control algae and/or aquatic plants. The actual treatment areas would lie within 243 acres of shoreline waters having a depth of ten feet or less. The Village of Chenequa will also be applying for a permit to treat up to 18 acres of water within Cornell Lake with aquatic pesticides to control algae and/or aquatic plants. The proposed treatment(s) would occur between May 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026.
The Village of Chenequa will conduct a public informational meeting on the proposed treatment if five or more individuals, organizations, special units of government, or local units of government request one. The meeting would give a chance to learn more about the proposed treatment from the permit applicant. The Village of Chenequa is not required to, but may, change the proposed treatment based on information provided by citizens attending the meeting.
Any request for a public meeting on this proposed treatment must be made within five (5) days after this notice is published. The request must specify the topics to be discussed at the meeting, including the problems and alternatives, and must be sent in writing to The Village of Chenequa, 31275 W. Hwy. K, Chenequa, WI 53029 and to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Waukesha Service Center, 141 NW Barstow Rm 180, Waukesha, WI 53188.
This is required by Chapter NR107, Wisconsin Administrative Code.
