REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL After School Child Care The Merkel Independent School District is accepting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for after-school child care to be housed at Merkel Elementary School. Proposals should be addressed to Merkel ISD – RFP, Kelly West, Superintendent, P.O. Box 430, Merkel, TX 79536. They may be hand-delivered to the MISD Central Administration Offices located at 314 Manchester, Merkel, TX. RFPs will be received until 3:00 PM on March 16, 2026. RFPs will be tabulated and publicly read at the Regular School Board Meeting on March 18, 2026. You will be notified of the results within 10 days. Mark any communication Merkel ISD After School Child Care. Any RFP received later than the specified time, no matter the delivery method, shall be disqualified. The proposal should include any and all of the following: 1. Operation of after-school child care for students in grades K-5. 2. Provide for all staff hiring and training. 3. Purchase all supplies for the program. 4. Register all children for the program. 5. Collect all fees from parent/guardian(s). 6. Obtain and maintain all items necessary to be compliant with state licensing. 7. Purchase and maintain general liability insurance for the program and employees. 8. Purchase and maintain workers' compensation and unemployment insurance. 9. Provide financial assistance or payment options for clients unable to pay regular fees. 10. Provide and serve nutritious snacks and drinks that meet the requirements provided by the state of Texas. 11. Maintain the condition of the district property when received and act with reasonable care to maintain the condition of the property. 12. Maintain a dialogue with parents/guardians and school employees as necessary. Merkel ISD's policy is not to award contracts based solely on “low price.” The District reserves the right to reject any and all RFPs and to accept the RFP deemed the best overall value to the District.
