COUNTY OF PRINCE GEORGE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO FY26 BUDGET   Notice is hereby given pursuant to § 15.2-2507, Code of Virginia (1950, as amended), that the Prince George County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of receiving comments on a proposed amendment to the FY2025-26 Prince George County Annual Fiscal Plan (the “Budget”) during its regular meeting of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m., in the Boardroom of the County Administration Building, Third Floor, 6602 Courts Drive, Prince George, Virginia. All interested citizens are invited to attend and participate in the public hearing. The current FY2025-26 budget total is $172,048,035. The proposed budget amendment would add $1,839,781 to the FY2025-26 budget to fund various school capital purchases and projects requested by the Princ George County School Board. The appropriation for these requested purchases and projects will not necessitate an increase in any tax rates. Prince George County’s amended FY2024-2025 budget had an approved local transfer of $17,673,035, to the School Operating Fund. The School Board received non-local revenues above the amount estimated and did not spend all its FY2024-25 budget appropriation, and $2,644,890 in non-local excess revenues and unexpended funds reverted to the General Fund, Fund Balance at the end of the fiscal year. The Prince George County Board of Supervisors has already appropriated $80,108.97 for school purchase order obligations, and $725,000 to address erosion issues at J. E. J. Moore Middle School and to purchase modular units at L. L. Beazley Elementary School. The remaining balance of the School Board contributed FY2024-2025 General Fund, Fund Balance is $1,839,781.03, and the School Board is requesting that $1,839,781 be appropriated to the County-wide Capital Improvement Project Fund in FY2025-26 for various capital purchases, services and projects which include: • Roof for N. B. Clements Junior High School • VAV Box Motors for J. E. J. Moore Middle School • Wet Well Sewer Pumps at Harrison and South Elementary Schools • PGHS Library Carpet and Technology Upgrades • PGHS Modular Replacements (2) • Painting at J. E. J. Moore Middle School • Athletic Field and Gym Improvements • Field Netting • Graduation Stage • Split Units for Cafeterias at South Elementary School, Harrison Elementary School, and PGHS • Mobile Light Plants A copy of materials related to the proposed budget amendment and the proposed budget amendment Resolution can be obtained at the County Administration Department of the County Administration Building or by contacting Betsy Drewry, Deputy County Administrator – Finance, at 804-722-8710.
