Public Information Meeting scheduled by The City of Freeport, Illinois for Improvements to the Hancock Avenue Bridge   The City of Freeport will hold a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed improvement of the Hancock Avenue Bridge over the Pecatonica River, 0.3 Miles South of Stephenson Street. The public information meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Freeport City Hall, Council Chambers, 314 West Stephenson Street at 5:30 p.m. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend this meeting. Persons with a disability desiring to participate in this activity should contact the Freeport City Clerk or the person listed in this Notice by Friday March 20, 2026, to make arrangements for participating. The contact may be by telephone, in writing, or by email. This is an IDOT-funded project, and the Public Information Meeting is being held in compliance with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s public involvement policy. The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis. Representatives of the City of Freeport will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Representatives for the City will answer individual questions and record comments from those in attendance. Verbatim comments will not be recorded. The City’s representatives will address topics such as the need for the project, the design under consideration, right-of-way acquisition, and the tentative construction schedule. Preliminary reports, including environmental documents and an engineering analysis with drawings, maps, and aerial photography, will be available for inspection and viewing during the entire time.
