ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
1. The Board of Education of Vernon Township (“Board of Education” or “Board”), located at 625 County Road 517, Walnut Ridge School, Vernon, New Jersey 07462, hereby advertises for competitive bids in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-21(a) (b) for Proposed Fire Alarm Upgrades at Various Schools for the Vernon Township School District (“Project”).
2. Bids for the above Project will be received by the Board’s Business Administrator/Board Secretary; Mr. Raymond Slamb, in the Board Offices located at 625 County Road 517, Walnut Ridge School, Vernon, New Jersey, 07462, on or before 11:00 AM; Local Time, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at which time and place bids will be publicly opened. No bids shall be received after the time designated in the advertisement. (N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-21(b)).
3. All interested contractors shall go to www.usaplanroom.com and under “Public Jobs” reference USA Architects Project No.: R2025.0473.00, Fire Alarm Upgrades at Various Schools. Bid Documents will be made available after 2:00 PM on March 18, 2026. Bid Documents may be purchased or ordered for pick-up online for the non-refundable fee of $100.00 for each paper set or $40.00 for each digital set. Site tours can be arranged by contacting Mr. Joseph Van Kirk, Director of Facilities, at (973) 764-5957. Allow forty-eight (48) hours advanced notice. Availability will be between 9am and 2pm, Monday through Thursday. Availability is strictly limited.
4. A Pre-Bid Conference for the purpose of reviewing the Project Scope and any possible clarifications on the intent of the Contract Documents will be held at the Board Offices, 625 County Road 517, Walnut Ridge School, Vernon, New Jersey 07462, at 10:00 a.m.; local time, on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Contractors to check in at the board entrance to be directed where to proceed. Contractors are strongly encouraged to attend. The Architect and Engineer will be present to review the intent of the documents and answer questions.
5. All bids must be sealed and delivered to the Office of the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary of Vernon Township Board of Education on or before date and time indicated above. The envelope to bear the following information: Bid name and title and the name and address of the bidder. The Board of Education does not accept electronic (e-mail) submission of bids.
6. All bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27.
7. Statement of Ownership Requirement: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2, Bidders shall submit a statement with the names and addresses of all persons and entities that own ten percent or more of its stock or interest of ownership of any type.
8. A Non-Collusion Affidavit and a Contractor Questionnaire/Certification also must be filed with the bid. The bid package will also include other documents that must be completed and returned with the bid.
9. All bidders must be classified by DPMC as C047 Electrical OR C049 Fire Alarm/Signal Systems. Those bidders with C049 classifications must list their electrical prime subcontractor on the form of proposal and submit their subcontractor’s required documents along with the bid.
10. All bidders shall include a bid security in compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-24 and a consent of surety in compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-25. Details are included in the bid instructions.
11. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all bids pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:18A-2(s), (t), (x), (y), 18:18A-4(a), and to waive minor informalities or non-material exceptions that may be in the best interest of the Board.
12. There is no set aside for this project.
