NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING
THE PROPOSED LOCAL LANDMARK DESIGNATION OF THE FAIRHAVEN TUBERCULOSIS SANITARIUM AND DESIGN GUIDELINES PROPOSED FOR SAME HISTORIC LANDMARK,
UNDER THE ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY
HISTORIC PRESERVATION ORDINANCE,
IN ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY, GEORGIA:
Notice is hereby given that the Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 6:00 PM, at the City Hall Commission Chamber, 310 College Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30601, to consider the proposed locally designated historic landmark and design guidelines proposed for same:
The proposed Fairhaven Tuberculosis Sanitarium Local Historic Landmark has an area of approximately 0.47 acres and is also known as a portion of 293 Gran Ellen Drive. The designation boundary is most clearly visible on a map of the proposed historic landmark, which is on file and available for inspection at the Athens-Clarke County Planning Department at 120 W. Dougherty Street and the Athens-Clarke County Clerk of Commission Office at 301 College Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30601. A set of Design Guidelines proposed as appropriate to the above-described Fairhaven Tuberculosis Sanitarium Local Historic Landmark are also on file and available for inspection at the Athens-Clarke County Planning Department and Clerk of Commission Office, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The property contained within the proposed local historic landmark boundary area is identified by the following Athens-Clarke County tax parcel number: 181A1 C001.
The public, owners, and occupants of the above-listed property within the above-described boundary area, proposed to be designated as a local historic landmark, are encouraged and invited to attend these public hearings. A qualified interpreter for the hearing impaired is available upon request at least ten (10) days in advance of this meeting.
