NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO VACATE AND CONVEY CITY-OWNED PROPERTY NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, shall consider adoption of a proposal to convey City-owned right-of-way, excess City property, and easement for utility purposes across City-owned land lying between Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway to the north, the Des Moines River to the south, Southeast 11th Street on the west and Southeast 15th Street on the east, for the public purpose of the Southeast 14th Street Corridor Improvements Project, subject to the reservation of easements for all existing utilities in place, until such time that they are abandoned or relocated: A parcel of land in vacated Harriet Street and Block 7 of Allen's Second Addition to Des Moines located in the SE ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 10, Township 78 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., AND Two parcels of land in Block 62 of Brooks and Co's Addition to the City of Des Moines located in the NW ¼ of the NW ¼ and the SW ¼ of the NW ¼ all in Section 11, Township 78 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., AND A parcel of land in Lots 6 and 7 in Block 17 of Allen's Second addition to Des Moines located in the NE ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 10, Township 78 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M., AND A parcel of land in Block 7 of Allen's Second Addition to Des Moines located in the SE ¼ of the NE ¼ of Section 10, Township 78 North, Range 24 West of the 5th P.M. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, that the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, proposes to convey a Quit Claim Deed and an Easement for Utility Purposes, to the State of Iowa, for the public purpose of use as right-of-way, as consideration for acquisition of said quit claim and easement interest in accordance with Iowa Code Section 364.7(3). NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the City Council will consider the approval of the proposed conveyance after a public hearing to be held at 5:00 p.m. on April 6, 2026, in the City Council Chamber, T.M. Franklin Cownie City Administration Building, 1200 Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Persons interested in the proposal will be given the opportunity to express their views at that hearing.
