The regular meeting of the Lafourche Parish Fire Protection District Number Three Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The meeting took place at the Lafourche Parish Fire District 3 Training Building in Cut Off. Chairman Reggie Pitre called the meeting to order at 6:32 PM. PLEDGE TO THE AMERICAN FLAG: Chairman Pitre led the pledge to our flag. ROLL CALL OF COMMISSIONERS: Chairman Reggie Pitre–Present; Vice-Chairman Dean Savoie–Present; Commissioner Morris Guidry–Present; Commissioner Aaron Montez–Present; Commissioner Troy Dufrene–Absent. APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES: Commissioner Savoie moved to accept the minutes of the January 27, 2026, Regular Board Meeting, as written, seconded by Commissioner Montez. No public comments. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Absent; Commissioner Montez-Yea; Commissioner Guidry-Yea. OLD BUSINESS: Brenton Hebert with GIS Engineering discussed the concrete at Belle Amie Fire Station. Hebert presented Change Order 5 for Belle Amie in the credit amount of $2,437.34. Motion by Savoie to accept the Change Order and seconded by Guidry. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Absent; Commissioner Montez-Yea; Commissioner Guidry-Yea. Benjamin Rath with CSRS gave Hurricane Ida updates. Demolition of Fire Central is just about completed. Rath also submitted square footage of new building to FEMA and was waiting to hear an answer. There will be a meeting between Architects for Fire Central and the Admin team tomorrow to discuss codes and standards for square footage of Fire Central so it can be sent back in to FEMA. Reimbursement request for architect fees and demolition has been sent to FEMA. West Cut Off Station needs new roof and wall panels, but the building would not meet wind requirements. CSRS is still working with Chase Marshall and FEMA on this station. A check was mailed to Entergy for the work that needs to be done at South Golden Meadow station. The check has not cleared the bank yet. Benjamin presented Pay App 2 for Outer Limit Contractors for the demolition of Fire Central in the amount of $70,110. Motion by Savoie to accept the Pay App and seconded by Montez. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Absent; Commissioner Montez-Yea; Commissioner Guidry-Yea. NEW BUSINESS: Pernell Pellegrin with Martin and Pellegrin CPAs presented LPFD3s annual Audit Report to the Board. Pernell held discussion about the standing of the Department as well as the fact that the district had to have a Single Audit performed because the department received more than $750,000 Federal dollars over the audit period. Pellegrin presented that there were 5 audit opinions needed this audit year. Pellegrin said the Department is in good standing and they look forward to continuing the working relationship with the Department. Chairman Reggie Pitre named Michaela Guidry as the new Board Secretary. Dedon also suggested that Addie Lefort will help with meeting notes. Commissioner Guidry motioned to approve, seconded by Commissioner Savoie. Public comments: None. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Absent; Commissioner Montez-Yea; Commissioner Guidry-Yea. Commissioner Pitre discussed the position of Civil Service Board Secretary and asked Jada Pitre, the current Civil Service secretary, if she would like the meeting to move to executive session. Savoie motioned, seconded by Commissioner Guidry to move into executive session. Public comments: None. Vote held: Commissioner Savoie–Yea; Commissioner Dufrene-Absent; Commissioner Montez-Yea; Commissioner Guidry-Yea. Executive session began at 6:58pm. Meeting back in order at 7:50pm. Commissioner Savoie motioned to have a volunteer take the minutes at the Civil Service Board meetings. No one else seconded the motion. Discussion was held about the Civil Service Board Secretary position. Commissioner Guidry motioned to table this issue until the next meeting. Commissioner Montez seconded the motion. FIRE CHIEF'S REPORT: Chief Dedon spoke about the amount of grass fires going on throughout the state. He stated that a burn ban would be discussed at the next Fire Chief's meeting, but that it is usually left up to the specific Parishes throughout the state. Dedon discussed a Pipeline class being offered in Texas. The class is free. Chief Dedon talked about the new fire truck purchased Monday by the District. The truck will be used as a model at the tool show at LSU FETA and someone will pick up the truck from there. Dedon discussed Hazmat training in Houma. Eric Benoit would like some of our firefighters to attend.
COMMUNICATION'S REPORT: Supervisor Mary St. Pierre advised for January, 258 ambulance calls and 86 fire calls. St Pierre discussed training for dispatchers and said most of the dispatchers have completed their recertifications and training.
MECHANIC'S REPORT: Master Mechanic Ryan Pitre reported that he has finished working on Rescue 98 and is back in service. He is currently working on Engine 92. He had 9 work orders for the month and is staying on top of maintenance of all trucks. Commissioner Savoie asked about the possibility of getting a new chastity for some of the older trucks and Pitre discussed the size of the trucks and the need for a new truck versus a new chastity because of size and weight limit load. Chief Dedon said we will need to start saving for a new truck as the price is well over $600,000 for a new truck like the ones we have. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: Chairman Pitre advised he saw a good turnout of volunteer and paid employees at the Mardi Gras parades.
COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS: Commissioner Guidry: Everyone else said it all. Commissioner Savoie: Asked Devin about if we received money from the State for the new truck, and Chief Dedon said that we received $150,000 from the state to put towards the new truck. Commissioner Dufrene: Absent. Commissioner Montez: Nothing to say. PUBLIC COMMENTS: No public comments. Commissioner Savoie moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:08PM, seconded by Commissioner Montez.
