This Notice is issued in accordance with section 7-174 of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Belle Glade. The Building Official of the City of Belle Glade has declared the above-described property to be unsafe. The structure endangers the life health, property or safety of the general public and has one or more of the conditions set forth under “unsafe building” in section 7-172 of the Code.
To correct the unsafe condition, the property owner or other interested party shall either demolish or repair the building within the timelines provided as follows:
1. If the building is to be repaired, all necessary permits shall be secured and the work commenced within 30 days of the date of the receipt of this Notice and the work shall be completed within 60 days of receipt of this Notice.
2. If the building is to be demolished, all required permits for demolition shall be secured within 30 days of receipt of this Notice and the demolition completed within 60 days of the receipt of this Notice. If the building is occupied, the building must be vacated within 60 days of receiving this Notice.
3. If the building is to be vacated, the premises shall be vacated within 30 days of the receipt of this Notice.
If the proper permit is not secured or the property is not repaired or demolished or vacated by the dates specified, the City may vacate the property; post the property to prevent further occupancy until the work is completed; record a notice of pending administrative action in the public records; demolish or repair the structure; and file a special assessment lien against the property for the costs incurred. The property shall not be occupied under any circumstances.
If you wish to contest in whole or in part the material allegations in this Notice; assert that the time period as set forth in this Notice poses an undue hardship; assert that the true intent and meaning of the Code has been misconstrued or misinterpreted; or make any other argument, you may request a hearing before the City’s Special Magistrate. Such request must be received, in writing, by the Building Official at 110 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., West, Belle Glade, Florida, 33430 within 15 days of receipt of this Notice or the right to a hearing is waived.
