PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The Planning Board of the Town of Whitman will hold a public hearing to discuss a proposed amendment to the Town’s Protective Zoning Bylaw as follows:

Time: 6:30 PM
In summary, the subject matter of this amendment proposed by the Planning Board would be to amend the Town’s Protective Zoning By-Law, Chapter 240, by adding a new article establishing Smart Growth Overlay District, or take any action relative thereto, to encourage smart growth and foster a range of housing opportunities that promote compact design in accordance with the purposes of M.G.L. c.40R. Without limitation, the proposed amendment establishes and delineates the scope and applicability of the overlay district and its relationship to other zoning measures, and further contains provisions governing properties and projects within the overlay district including permitted principal and accessory uses; density and dimensional regulations; affordable housing requirements; dimensional and density requirements; parking requirements; the adoption of design standards relative to the scale and proportions of buildings, the alignment, width, and grade of streets and sidewalks, the type and location of infrastructure, the location of building and garage entrances, off street parking, the protection of significant natural site features, the location and design of on-site open spaces, exterior signs, and buffering in relation to adjacent properties; and procedures for site plan approvals, modifications, enforcement, and appeals.
