NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING, BUDGET VOTE AND ELECTION DOBBS FERRY UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT TOWN OF GREENBURGH, COUNTY OF WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK   NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the Dobbs Ferry Union Free School District, Westchester County, New York, will be held in the MS/HS Library Presentation Center, Dobbs Ferry Middle School in said District on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 7:00 PM, prevailing time, for the presentation of the budget document for the 2026-2027 school year.   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that said vote and election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, prevailing time, in the Dobbs Ferry High School Gymnasium, at which time the polls will be opened to vote by voting machine upon the following items:   1. To vote on the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2026-2027 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District.   2. To elect two (2) members of the Board of Education for three (3) year terms commencing July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2029.   3. To vote on any other proposition legally proposed.   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required to fund the School District's budget for 2026-2027, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours beginning April 24, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at the Superintendent’s Office, Dobbs Ferry High School, Dobbs Ferry, New York, and at each of the following schoolhouses, at any public or free association library in the District, and on the District’s website:   Springhurst Elementary School   Dobbs Ferry Middle School   Dobbs Ferry High School   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that a Real Property Tax Exemption Report prepared in accordance with Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law will be annexed to any tentative/preliminary budget as well as the final adopted budget of which it will form a part; and shall be posted on District bulletin board(s) maintained for public notices, as well as on the District’s website.   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the Clerk of said School District at her office in the Superintendent’s Office, no later than Monday, April 20, 2026 until 5:00 PM. Vacancies on the Board of Education are not considered separate, specific offices; candidates run at large. Nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board for which the candidate is nominated; must be directed to the Clerk of the District; must be signed by at least (25) qualified voters of the District; must state the name and residence address of each signer, and must state the name and residence address of the candidate.   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that applications for Early Mail Ballots and Absentee Ballots may be obtained on the District website or in the District Clerk’s office during school business hours. Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk no more than thirty (30) days and at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be picked up personally by the voter or the voter’s authorized agent set forth in the application at the District Clerk’s Office. Upon receiving a timely application for a mailed early mail ballot or absentee ballot, the District Clerk will mail the ballot to the address designated on the application by no later than six (6) days before the election. Early Mail Ballots and Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM, prevailing time, on May 19, 2026.   Separate lists of all persons to whom Early Mail Ballots and Absentee Ballots are issued, and a list of military voters to whom Military Ballots are issued, will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on weekdays until the day of the annual election. Any qualified voter may file a written challenge of the qualifications of a voter whose name appears on any such list, stating the reasons for the challenge.   AND FURTHER NOTICE IS GIVEN, that personal registration of voters is required pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law. To register, a voter must be (1) a citizen of the United States, (2) eighteen years of age, and (3) a resident within the district for a period of 30 days immediately preceding the election. If a voter has heretofore registered pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law and has voted at an annual or special district meeting within the last four (4) calendar years, he/she is eligible to vote at this election; if a voter is registered with the Board of Elections of Westchester County he/she is eligible to vote at this election. All other persons who wish to vote must register with the District or the Westchester County Board of Elections.   The Board of Registration will meet for the purpose of registering all qualified voters of the District at the Dobbs Ferry High School Gymnasium Lobby, on Monday, May 11, 2026 between the hours of 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM, prevailing time, to add any additional names to the Register to be used at the aforesaid election, at which time any person will be entitled to have his or her name placed on such Register, provided that at such meeting of the Board of Registration he or she is known or proven to the satisfaction of said Board of Registration to be then or thereafter entitled to vote at such election for which the register is prepared.
