NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING
AND ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
MEETING FOR DANSVILLE CENTRAL SCHOOL
A budget hearing and meeting will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Dansville High School Library, 282 Main Street, Dansville, New York for discussion regarding the school district’s proposed 2026-27 educational program and supporting financial budget. The Board of Education will formally present the proposed budget at this time which will be voted on at the annual meeting. In the event it becomes necessary or appropriate to conduct the budget hearing virtually, information will be available on the District’s website, www.dansvillecsd.org, or by contacting the District Clerk at 585.335.4000 x2300 or mistrettama@dansvillecsd.org.
And, notice is given to the annual meeting of Dansville Central School District to be held May 19, 2026 at the Dansville High School, in the Gym Foyer, 282 Main Street, Dansville, New York from 8:00am to 8:00pm. The purpose of this meeting is to vote upon the 2026-27 school district budget (and authorize to levy the necessary taxes), propositions, and the election of the office of Board of Education members. Voting machines will be used, unless unavailable, in which case voting shall be by paper ballot.
And, notice is hereby given that propositions, petitions, or questions, which are to be voted upon, will meet the rules and regulations of the State of New York and those adopted by the Board of Education. Information concerning these procedures is available at the office of the Board of Education. The following propositions will be submitted:
Proposition #1 – 2026-27 School Budget
Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Dansville Central School District is hereby authorized as approved and adopted to expend the required funds for the school budget for the 2026-27 school year and to levy the necessary tax on the taxable property of the school district.
Proposition #2 – Purchase of Diesel/Gas School Buses and Vehicles
Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit:
Resolved that the Board of Education of the Dansville Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake the acquisition of diesel and gasoline school buses, including, without limitation, two (2) large diesel school buses, one (1) small gasoline school bus and one (1) SUV or Minivan-type vehicle all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $599,000, less trade-in value, if any, and to appropriate and expend from the existing bus purchase reserve fund $108,000 for such cost, and that the balance of such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $491,000 shall be issued, or the School District may enter into an installment purchase contract if the Board of Education determines that it is in the best interest of the School District to finance the purchase in that method.
Proposition #3 – Reserve Fund Expenditure
Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit:
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Dansville Central School District is hereby authorized to expend $80,000 from the existing school bus and equipment purchase reserve fund for the acquisition of one (1) tractor, at an estimated maximum cost of $80,000
Proposition #4 – Purchase Zero-Emission Electric School Bus
Shall the following resolution be adopted to wit:
Resolved, that the Board of Education of the Dansville Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake the acquisition of a zero-emission school bus, including, without limitation, one (1) large zero-emission electric school bus, at an estimated maximum acquisition cost of $499,250, but with an estimated net maximum cost of $242,000 after the receipt of grants, credits, or rebates, if any, and to appropriate and expend from the existing bus purchase reserve fund $47,000 for such cost, and that the balance of such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $195,000 shall be issued, or the School District may enter into an installment purchase contract if the Board of Education determines that it is in the best interest of the School District to finance the purchase in that method.
And, notice is hereby given that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the district, along with the property tax report card, administrative salary notice and the tax exemption report, during regular office hours, during the fourteen days (14) immediately preceding the annual meeting except Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, at the offices of the Board of Education, 337 Main Street, Dansville, New York 14437.
Each petition for prospective Board of Education member(s) must state the name and residence of the candidate and the residence of each signer and be directed to the clerk of the district, and must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the district. Deadline for submission of petitions for nominations of the School Board Candidates is April 20, 2026 at 3:00pm. Petitions may be submitted between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
And, notice is hereby given that the following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education.

Petitions for the above positions are not for separate specific offices. Persons receiving a plurality of votes shall be elected.
And, notice is hereby given that absentee ballots will be available for voting on the school district budget, school board members and propositions. Applications must be received by the Clerk at least seven days preceding the May 19, 2026 meeting of voters if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or at least the day before such meeting of voters if the ballot is to be personally delivered to the voter. In addition, a list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the Clerk during regular hours on each of the five days prior to the day of the meeting of voters, except Saturday, Sunday, or holidays.
And, notice is hereby given that military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 585.335.4000 x2300 or mistrettama@dansvillecsd.org. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00pm on April 24, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application by ballot or mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail.
