NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION Pursuant to the provisions of a resolution adopted on February 16, 2026 (the "Resolution"), by the Town Council of the Town of Washington, State of Louisiana, acting as the governing authority (the "Governing Authority") of the Town of Washington, State of Louisiana (the "Town"), NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election will be held in the Town on Saturday, June 27, 2026 (the "Election"), and that at the Election there will be submitted to all registered voters of the Town, qualified and entitled to vote at the Election under the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana and the Constitution of the United States of America, the following propositions, to wit: PROPOSITION NO. 1 Shall the Home Rule Charter for the Town of Washington, prepared by the duly appointed charter commission, said plan being prepared according to Article VI, Section 5 (B) of the Constitution of Louisiana, and Louisiana Revised Statutes Section 33:1395 and applicable law be adopted? The polling place set forth above is hereby designated as the polling places at which to hold the Election, and the Commissioners-in-Charge and Commissioners, respectively, shall be those designated according to law. The estimated cost of the Election as determined by the Louisiana Secretary of State is $12,900. The Election will be held in accordance with the applicable provisions of Chapter 5, Chapter 6 and Chapter 6-B of Title 18 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, and other constitutional and statutory authority, including but not limited to La. R.S. 13:5903.C. and the officers appointed to hold the Election, as provided in this Notice of Special Election, or such substitute therefor, as may be selected and designated in accordance with La. R.S. 18:1287, will make due returns thereof to the Governing Authority of the Town. NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Governing Authority of the Town will meet July 20, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Meeting Room, 405 N. Washington Street, Washington, Louisiana, and shall then and there in open and public session proceed to examine and canvass the returns and declare the results of the Election. The Governing Authority of the Town reserves the right to postpone the date and time set forth above for the canvass of the returns (without any further publication of notice of the change in the date, time and/or location).
