Notice of Election and Vote on Budget

Notice is hereby given that the election of two members of the Board of Education to Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District, Frankfort, Herkimer County, New York and the appropriation of the necessary funds to meet the estimated expenses of the school district for the school year, 2026-2027 and authorize the levy of taxes therefore will take place in the gymnasium of the High School Building, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 8:00 P.M. EDST on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Voting will be between said hours and will be by voting machine in accordance with procedures heretofore adopted by the Board of Education. The following vacancy on the Board of Education are to be filled:
Two Seats – At Large
Term – Two Five-Year Terms (2026 – 2031)
Petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District no later than the thirtieth (30th) day before said election at her office, High School Building, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York, or no later than Monday, April 20, 2026, at 5:00 P.M. EDST. Each petition must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the District, and must state the name and resident address of the candidate. Blank petitions may be obtained at the office of the District Clerk.
And Notice is Further Given: That a copy of the detailed statement of the amount of money which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each, may be obtained by any taxpayer in the district during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding such meeting other than Saturday or Sunday, at the office of the District Clerk, High School Building, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. DST.
And Notice is Further Given: That a Public Hearing, for the purpose of discussing the annual budget, will be held in the Library at the High School, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. EDST.
Notice is Further Given: That applications for Absentee Ballots will be available in the office of the District Clerk, High School Building, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. EDST. Applications for Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk or designee at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. The list containing the names of the voters to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the office of the District Clerk during regular school hours until the day of the election.
Notice is Further Given: That applications for Early Mail Ballots will be available in the office of the District Clerk, High School Building, 605 Palmer Street, Frankfort, New York, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. EDST. Applications for Early Mail Ballots must be received by the District Clerk or designee at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. The list containing the names of the voters to whom early mail ballots have been issued will be available for inspection in the office of the District Clerk during regular school hours until the day of the election.
Notice is Further Given that military ballots may be applied for by qualified voters by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 315-894-5083 or cgiordano@frankfort-schuyler.org. Completed applications for military ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 2026. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. An individual will qualify as a military voter if he or she (1) is a qualified voter of the State of New York, who is in actual military service, and by reason of such military service is absent from the District on the day of the election, or is a voter who is discharged from military service within 30 days of an election; or (2) a spouse, parent, child, or dependent of such service member who is a qualified voter and is absent due to accompanying or being with the military service member.
