Notice is hereby given pursuant to Wis. Admin. Code § NR 210.21 (5) that a sewage treatment facility overflow (TFO) event occurred at the City of Appleton Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at 2006 E. Newberry St. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from approximately 5:00 am to 5:30 am CST. The TFO event was the result of approximately 3.1 inches of precipitation on saturated ground over the previous 48 hours that resulted in a large volume of inflow into the sanitary sewer collection system that hydraulically exceeded the design capacity of the wastewater treatment facility. Staff responded to the high flow conditions and activated high-flow management and operational protocols to maximize treatment capacity, which mitigated the impacts to public health, the environment, and property.
