NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO VACATE CITY-OWNED RIGHT-OF-WAY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, shall consider adoption of an ordinance permanently vacating a portion of Bates Park, legally described as follows, subject to the reservation of easements for utilities therein:
LOTS 57 THROUGH 60 IN MARSHALL'S SECOND ADDITION, AN OFFICIAL PLAT, AND ALL OF LOT "A" IN SAID MARSHALL'S SECOND ADDITION LYING WEST OF AND ADJOINING SAID LOTS 56 THROUGH 60, AND ALL OF THE VACATED 7.50 FEET WIDE NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY RIGHT OF WAY IN BATES' SECOND ADDITION, AN OFFICIAL PLAT, LYING EAST OF AND ADJOINING LOTS 86 THROUGH 89 OF SAID BATES' SECOND ADDITION, ALL NOW INCLUDED IN AND FORMING A PART OF THE CITY OF DES MOINES, POLK COUNTY, IOWA, AND CONTAINING APPROXIMATELY 0.71 ACRES (31,051 SQUARE FEET).
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Des Moines, Iowa, will consider the proposed vacation after a public hearing to be held May 4, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, T.M. Franklin Cownie City Administration Building, 1200 Locust Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Persons interested in the proposal will be given the opportunity to express their views at that hearing.
