OFFICIAL NOTICE BEFORE THE UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF IOWA TO THE CITIZENS OF JOHNSON AND LINN COUNTIES: Notice is given that ITC Midwest LLC, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, pursuant to Iowa Code chapter 478, has filed a petition with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC) for a franchise to erect, maintain, and operate an electric transmission line in Johnson and Linn Counties and that the petition sets forth the following maximum voltage, starting points, routes, and termini of the proposed line: 161,000 Volt Nominal (169,000 Volt Maximum) Electric Transmission Line Johnson County, Iowa The north end point of this transmission line ends at a point of electrical connection with an ITC transmission line located at the Johnson-Linn County line, near the northwest corner of Section 5, Township 81 North, Range 8 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Johnson County, Iowa; the north terminus of this transmission line ends at a point of electrical connection within ITC's Fairfax Substation located in the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 15, Township 82 North, Range 8 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Linn County, Iowa, within the City of Fairfax, Iowa. The south end point and terminus of this transmission line ends at a point of electrical connection within Central Iowa Power Cooperative's (CIPCO) Swan Lake Substation in the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 4, Township 80 North, Range 07 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Johnson County, Iowa. This transmission line begins at a point of electrical connection with an ITC transmission line located in the public road right of way near the center of Linn Johnson Road NW, approximately 0.00 mile south and 0.02 mile east of the northwest corner of Section 5, Township 81 North, Range 8 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Johnson County, Iowa, said point being on the Johnson-Linn County Line; thence southerly crossing the public road right of way of Linn Johnson Road and continuing southerly on private property to a point on private property approximately 0.07 mile south and 0.02 mile east of the northwest corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 0.06 mile; thence southeasterly on private property through the West Half and the Southeast Quarter of said Section 5, the Northeast Quarter of Section 8, the West Half of Section 9, the North Half and the Southeast Quarter of Section 16, the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 15, Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 22, all in said township and range, crossing Knapp Creek, 120th Street (a.k.a. County Highway F12), 140th Street and Chambers Avenue, to a point on private property approximately 0.05 mile south and 0.06 mile east of the northwest corner of Section 22, said township and range, for a distance of approximately 3.60 miles; thence southeasterly on private property through the North Half and the Southeast Quarter of said Section 22, crossing Derby Avenue (a.k.a. County Highway W42), to a point on private property approximately 0.24 mile north and 0.08 mile west of the southeast corner of said Section 22, for a distance of approximately 1.12 miles; thence southeasterly on private property through the Southeast Quarter of said Section 22, the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 23, the West Half and the Southeast Quarter of Section 26, the Northeast Quarter of Section 35, the Southwest Quarter of Section 36, all in said township and range, and the North Half and the Southeast Quarter of Section 1, Township 80 North, Range 8 West of the 5th Principal Meridian, Johnson County, Iowa, crossing Amana Road (a.k.a. County Highway F20), Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area, Iowa River and Hawkeye WMA 3, to a point on private property approximately 0.30 mile north and 0.26 mile west of the southeast corner of said Section 1, for a distance of approximately 3.48 miles; thence east on private property through part of the Southeast Quarter of said Section 1, to a point on private property approximately 0.30 mile north and 0.11 mile west of the southeast corner of said Section 1, for a distance of approximately 0.14 mile; thence southeasterly on private property through the Southeast Quarter of said Section 1, to a point on private property approximately 0.25 mile north and 0.01 mile west of the southeast corner of said Section 1, for a distance of approximately 0.12 mile; thence easterly on private property through the South Half of said Section 6 and Section 5, said township and range, crossing Greencastle Avenue and Half Moon Avenue to a point on private property approximately 0.25 mile north and 0.00 mile east of the south quarter corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 1.53 miles; thence southeasterly on private property adjacent to east margin of the public road right of way of Half Moon Avenue to a point on private property approximately 0.22 mile north and 0.01 mile east of the south quarter corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 0.04 mile; thence southerly on private property adjacent to east margin of the public road right of way of Half Moon Avenue to a point on private property approximately 0.13 mile north and 0.01 mile east of the south quarter corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 0.09 mile; thence southeasterly on private property to a point on private property adjacent to the north margin of 240th Street, approximately 0.01 mile north and 0.05 mile east of the south quarter corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 0.13 mile; thence east on private property adjacent to the north margin of 240th Street, to a point on private property approximately 0.01 mile north and 0.18 mile west of the southeast corner of said Section 5, for a distance of approximately 0.26 mile; thence south on private property crossing 240th Street, to a point on private property adjacent to the south margin of 240th Street, approximately 0.01 mile south and 0.18 mile west of the northeast corner of Section 8, said township and range, for a distance of approximately 0.02 mile; thence east on private property adjacent to the south margin of 240th Street, to a point on private property approximately 0.01 mile south and 0.38 mile east of the northwest corner of Section 9, said township and range, for a distance of approximately 0.56 mile; thence southeasterly on private property through the Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 9 to a point on private property approximately 0.03 mile south and 0.00 mile east of the north quarter corner of said Section 9, for a distance of approximately 0.13 mile; thence northeasterly on private property through the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 9 to a point on private property approximately 0.01 mile south and 0.12 mile east of the north quarter corner of said Section 9, for a distance of approximately 0.12 mile; thence east on private property adjacent to the south margin of 240th Street, to a point on private property approximately 0.01 mile south and 0.10 mile west of the northeast corner of said Section 9, for a distance of approximately 0.28 mile; thence north on private property, crossing 240th Street, to a point of electrical connection with an ITC transmission line within CIPCO's Swan Lake Substation approximately 0.01 mile north and 0.10 mile west of the southeast corner of Section 4, said township and range, for a distance of approximately 0.02 mile. The total distance of this proposed line is approximately 11.70 miles. The IUC has established the hearing time, date, and place as 9 a.m., June 4, 2026, at the Hyatt Place Iowa City, 255 E Court St., Iowa City, IA 52240. All filings in this docket (Docket No. E-22534) may be viewed by searching under the docket number in the IUC's electronic filing system (EFS) at efs.iowa.gov. Objections to the granting of the franchise may be filed electronically using EFS or filed in writing with the IUC no later than 20 days after the date of second publication of this notice. Instructions for submitting an electronic filing can be found in the EFS; written objections must be mailed to the Iowa Utilities Commission, 1375 E. Court Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50319. Both electronic and written objections must clearly state the objector's name and address and list the docket number on the objection.
