The following are summaries of ordinances and resolutions adopted by Canton City Council on Apr. 6, 2026. The complete text of the ordinances or resolutions may be obtained for 10 cents per page or viewed free at the office of the Clerk of Council in City Hall, 218 Cleve. Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44702, during non holiday weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ordinance No. 52/2026
Ordinance No. 52/2026 was reconsidered and amended to correct the Clerk of Courts Fund number in the first supplemental appropriation from "701002” to “702001”.
Ordinance No. 54/2026
The Auditor is authorized to pay a moral obligation in an amount not to exceed $12,709 to Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP for professional services rendered as part of the Perry Twp. Water Service. Council retroactively authorizes all actions taken prior to the passage of this ordinance related to the same. Adopted as an emergency.
Resolution No. 55/2026
Council accepts the following recommendations of the Tax Incentive Review Council: Companies in Compliance - Continue into 2026 for EZ Companies: Ball Metalpack, LLC, I2R Power Cable, Inc., Julz by Alan Rodriguez, Slesnick Realty Co., LLC and B&T Associates LLC; Terydon, Inc. (Stoneage Waterblast Tools). Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 56/2026
The Auditor is authorized to create the following funds to track project revenues and expenditures: 4527 Colonial Blvd – Phase 2, GP 1428 Project Fund, 4528 4th St SE Bridge Rehabilitation, GP 1297 Project Fund, 4529 12th St. Resurfacing, GP 1369 Project Fund, 5447 West Tusc. St Safety Project Ph 1, GP 1165 Project Fund and 5448 Elgin Ave. NW Neighborhood Improvement Project, GP 1478 Fund. The 2026 Final Appropriation Ord. is amended by making various supplemental appropriations to the foregoing project funds. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 57/2026
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to: accept the conveyance of Stark County Auditor Parcel Numbers 242253, 242395, 242262, 242265, 244077, 214330, 236927, 228702 and 221615 from American Electric Power (“AEP”); enter into any additional contracts or take necessary steps to acquire the parcels and enter into a lease agreement with Canton Community Improvement Corporation for the third floor of 301 Cleveland Ave. SW for subsequent lease to AEP for economic development purposes. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 58/2026
Otis Pl SE and part of a 20’ wide unnamed alley is vacated. Lots 3239, 3241, 3243, 3245, 3237 and part of Outlot 321 and the vacated portions of Otis Pl SE and part of a 20’ wide unnamed alley are replatted. A copy of the Vacation and Replat is attached to the ordinance as Ex. A. Adopted as an emergency. The foregoing summaries of ordinances and resolutions adopted by Council on Apr. 6, 2026, were prepared and approved by the Law Director to ensure legal accuracy and sufficiency per the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code.
