PUBLIC NOTICE
Pursuant to the PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Rules and Regulations, and the BITUMINOUS MINE SUBSIDENCE and LAND CONSERVATION ACT as amended, notice is hereby given that LCT Energy, LP, doing business at 938 Mt. Airy Drive, Suite 200, Johnstown, PA 15904, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to request a bond adjustment to release the remaining subsidence bond in the amount of $10,000 for the Brubaker Deep Mine (CMAP #56081301).
The permit was issued on October 20, 2011 and will expire on October 20, 2026. Mine openings were sealed in March 2016 and active mining also ceased.
The operation is located in Shade Township, Somerset County and is known as the Brubaker Mine. The underground permit and subsidence control plan area is 736.1 acres. The northernmost point is located approximately 1,625’ northeast of the intersection of Blough Road and Ridge Road; the easternmost point is located approximately 4,305’ northeast of the intersection of Benny Road and Ridge Road; the southernmost point is located approximately 3,575’ northeast of the intersection of Benny Road and Ridge Road; the westernmost point is located approximately 3,145’ southwest of the intersection of Blough Road and Ridge Road; The underground permit and subsidence control plan area can be found on the Hooversville, PA and Windber,PA USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps.
A copy of the application is available for public inspection, and copying for a fee, by appointment at the Department of Environmental Protection, District Mining Operations, 25 Technology Drive, California Technology Park, Coal Center, PA 15423. Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or an informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, District Mining Operations, 25 Technology Drive, California Technology Park, Coal Center, PA 15423, no later than thirty (30) days following the final publication date of this notice.
