NOTICE OF ANNUAL PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BUDGET, ANNUAL MEETING, SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION AND VOTE   NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Education of the Millbrook Central School District, Dutchess County, New York, will hold a Public Hearing on the Budget in room twenty-five (25) of the Millbrook Middle School at 43 Alden Place, Millbrook New York, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., for the purpose of presenting the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year.   NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that a copy of the statement of the amount of money which will be required for school district purposes during the 2026-2027 school year (The Budget), exclusive of public monies, may be obtained by any resident of the District during business hours, effective April 28, 2026, except Saturday, Sunday or holidays, at each of the District’s schools, at the Administrative Offices, at any free association or public library in the District and on the District website. A Real Property Tax Exemption Report prepared in accordance with Section 495 of the Real Property Tax Law will be annexed to any budget of which it will form a part; and shall be posted on District bulletin board(s) maintained for public notices, as well as on the District’s website.   NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Annual School District Meeting, Election and Vote will be held in the Band Room in the Millbrook Middle School, 43 Alden Place, Millbrook, NY, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 p.m., when the polls will be open for the purpose of voting by paper ballot:   A: Proposition 1: MILLBROOK CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS SCHOOL BUDGET 2026-2027 Shall the Board of Education of the Millbrook Central School District be authorized to expend the sum of $37,992,751 for the School District purposes for the 2026-2027 school year (The Budget) and to levy the necessary tax therefor?   B: To elect two (2) members of the Board of Education for three (3) year terms (July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029) The candidates are: Howard Shapiro Christopher Rosenbergen   NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to Section 2014 of the Education Law, personal registration of voters is required, and no person shall be entitled to vote at said Annual School District Election and Vote to be held on May 19, 2026, whose name does not appear on the register of said School District or who does not register as hereinafter provided, except a person who is otherwise qualified to vote and is registered under the provisions of Article 5 of the Election Law. The Board of Registration shall prepare a register for said Annual School District Election and Vote which shall include all persons who shall have been previously registered for any annual or special district meeting and voted in such within the past four (4) calendar years. Voter registration will be conducted between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on business days, in the District Office located in the Middle School, 43 Alden Place in Millbrook, NY, until May 14, 2026.   NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the register of the School District, so prepared, including the names of military voters who submitted valid military voter registrations, will be filed in the District Office in the Millbrook Middle School, 43 Alden Place, Millbrook, NY, where the same will be open for inspection by any qualified voter of the District between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on each of the five (5) days prior to the said Annual School District Election and Vote, including Saturday by appointment with the District Clerk and excluding Sunday.   NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that applications for early mail ballots and applications for absentee ballots for the School District Election and Vote may be obtained at the Office of the School District Clerk in the Millbrook Middle School, 43 Alden Place, Millbrook, NY, on weekdays when school is in session between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The application for early mail ballot or absentee ballot must be received by the School District Clerk no more than thirty (30) and at least seven (7) days prior to the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election, if the ballot will be personally picked up by the voter or the voter’s designated agent as set forth in the application, at the District Office. Early Mail Ballots and Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk at the District Administrative Office, not later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election and vote, May 19, 2026. A list of all persons to whom early mail ballots have been issued, a list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued, as well as a list of military voters to whom military ballots have been issued, will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District at the Office of the District Clerk during regular office hours, 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., prevailing time, until the day of the Election and Vote. Any qualified voter may file a written challenge of the qualifications of a voter, whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for the challenge.   NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that military voters who are not currently registered to vote may obtain an application to register as a qualified voter of the District and military voters who are registered to vote may obtain an application for a military ballot, for the Annual Meeting on May 19, 2026, by contacting the District Clerk at 43 Alden Place, Millbrook NY 12545, Telephone (845) 677-4200, Ext. 1100, or email cheryl.sprague@millbrookcsd.org. The military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the registration application and/or ballot application by mail, by facsimile or email. The completed application to register and/or for a military ballot must be received by the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 P.M. on April 20, 2026. Military ballots will be mailed or otherwise distributed no later than 25 days before the election.
