CITY OF PALM DESERT
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Palm Desert will hold a public hearing on May 28, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Palm Desert Council Chamber located at 73-510 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, CA 92260. The meeting is scheduled as a hybrid meeting pursuant to Senate Bill 707. Directions for participating in the meeting can be found at: https://www.palmdesert.gov/government/meetings. The purpose of the public hearing is to present information on the status of job vacancies and ongoing recruitment and retention efforts as required by Assembly Bill 2561 (AB 2561).
Pursuant to AB 2561, the hearing will include a report on:
• The current number of vacant positions within the agency.
• Recruitment and retention efforts undertaken to fill vacant positions.
• If applicable, a detailed presentation regarding vacancies within any bargaining unit where unfilled positions constitute 20% or more of authorized full-time positions, as requested by the recognized employee organization.
• Any necessary changes to policies, procedures, and recruitment activities that may lead to obstacles in the hiring process.
Recognized employee organizations for a bargaining unit may make a presentation. Any person may submit written comments on any of the contemplated actions listed above to Palm Desert City Council at cityclerk@palmdesert.gov before the Public Hearings and/or may appear and be heard in support of, or opposition to, the matter at the time of the Public Hearing.
