CITY OF BARSTOW NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Barstow will hold a Public Hearing to consider an annual Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based adjustment to solid waste collection, recycling, and organics service rates provided by Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2026 Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: City Council Chambers 220 East Mountain View Street, Suite A Barstow, California 92311 The proposed rate adjustment is being considered in accordance with the City’s exclusive franchise agreement with Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., which allows for annual rate adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for All Urban Consumers in the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario area, as published by the U.S. Department of Labor, not to exceed five percent (5%) per year. The CPI for the applicable period is 3.28%, and the proposed residential rate adjustment is approximately $1.71 per month. Commercial rate adjustments will vary based on level of service. The City previously completed Proposition 218 noticing in 2024 establishing a schedule of annual CPI-based rate adjustments through July 1, 2028, as approved by City Council Resolution No. 5158-2024. The proposed adjustment is within the scope of that previously approved rate structure. At the Public Hearing, the City Council will consider all public comments regarding the proposed rate adjustment prior to taking action.
