ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE – PLACE-TO-PLACE TRANSFER
TAKE NOTICE that Connell Hospitality LLC (“Applicant”) trading as: Embassy Suites By Hilton – Berkeley Heights, Grain & Cane Bar and Table, American Beauty Events, Table and Banter, Table & Banter, Round Table Studios, RT, RT at The Park, RT Farms, RT Residences, RT Studios, Fieldhouse, The Glasshouse, Counter Market Café, Park Market, Biergarten, Café Exchange, Rosa Azul Taqueria, Rosa Azul Mexidiner, BASH, BASH Club Room, The Nest, Modo, and ParkLife, has made an application (“Application”) to the Township of Berkeley Heights, 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922, for a place-to-place transfer of plenary retail consumption license (hotel/motel exception) #2001-36-014-002 (“License”). The Application seeks to modify and reduce the existing licensed premises which consists of portions of the property commonly known as The Park and previously known as Connell Corporate Park (“Licensed Premises”).
The Application seeks to modify and reduce the Licensed Premises to encompass the following upon approval of such place-to-place transfer (building number references correspond to the Addendum to Page 3 of the Application): (i) the entirety of Building 1, commonly known as 250 Connell Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922 (which currently operates as the Embassy Suites By Hilton – Berkeley Heights Hotel), together with outdoor spaces as specified in the Application; (ii) portions of Building 2 (as specified in the Application), commonly known as 200 Connell Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922, together with outdoor spaces as specified in the Application; (iii) portions of Building 3 (as specified in the Application), commonly known as 300 Connell Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922; (iv) portions of Building 4 (as specified in the Application), which is currently under construction, commonly known or to be known as 500 District Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922, together with outdoor spaces as specified in the Application; and (v) the entirety of Building 5 (the Entertainment Building), which is currently under construction, commonly known or to be known as 800 District Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922, together with outdoor spaces as specified in the Application. The Licensed Premises encompasses buildings and outdoor areas within the following tax lots: Block 4301, Lot 1.012 (Building 1); Block 4301, Lot 1.04 (Building 2); Block 4102, Lot 1 (Buildings 3, 4 & 5); and Block 4301, Lot 1.03 (outdoor premises common to licensed buildings).
The License will be used (i) to continue existing hotel, food, beverage and other hospitality offerings, and for proposed future offerings of a similar nature, within the Licensed Premises, and (ii) in conjunction with a proposed restricted brewery, to be operated at the Entertainment Building, which is currently under construction, commonly known or to be known as 800 District Drive, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, 07922, upon the issuance of a restricted brewery license by the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, for which Licensee has filed an application.
Applicant’s offices are located at 300 Connell Drive, Suite 4000, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922. The following entities hold direct ownership interests in the Applicant: The Connell Company and the Connell Foundation Food Group LLC, both having the same address as Applicant, and Davidson Hotel Company LLC d/b/a Davidson Hotels & Resorts, One Ravinia Drive, Suite 1600, Atlanta, Georgia 30346. Applicant’s officers are: Terry Connell (of Watchung, NJ), Richard E. Bartok (of Westfield, NJ), Carlton A. Blake (of Lebanon, NJ), Shane Connell (of Gladstone, NJ), Duane Connell (of New Vernon, NJ), David Freidin (of Summit, NJ), Stephen P. Kilroy (of Mendham, NJ), and Lee S. Martino (of Summit, NJ).
The Connell Foundation Food Group LLC’s sole member is The Connell Company and its officers are: Chloe A. Connell (of Hoboken, NJ), Terry Connell, Shane Connell, Duane Connell, Stephen P. Kilroy, Richard E. Bartok, and Carlton A. Blake.
The Connell Company’s shareholders are: the Terry Connell Revocable Trust dated 10/11/2017, the Toni Connell Revocable Trust dated 3/4/2016, the Grover Connell 1959 TR Terry Connell, the Grover Connell 1959 TR Toni Connell, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2010-2 (SC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2010-2 (DC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2011-1 (SC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2011-1 (DC) Trust, the Shane Connell 2012 Generation Skipping Trust, the Duane Connell 2012 Generation Skipping Trust, all having the same address as the Applicant, and Shane Connell and Duane Connell. The Connell Company’s officers are: Shane Connell, Duane Connell, Carlton A. Blake, Bruce Checkla (of Cleverdale, NY), Chloe A. Connell, Lee S. Martino, Terry Connell, Toni Connell (of Nokesville, VA), Richard E. Bartok, and Stephen P. Kilroy.
Terry Connell is the trustee of the Terry Connell Revocable Trust dated 10/11/2017. Toni Connell is the trustee of the Toni Connell Revocable Trust dated 3/4/2016. Shane Connell and Duane Connell are the trustees of: the Grover Connell 1959 TR Terry Connell, the Grover Connell 1959 TR Toni Connell, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2010-2 (SC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2010-2 (DC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2011-1 (SC) Trust, the Grover Connell Generation Skipping 2011-1 (DC) Trust, the Shane Connell 2012 Generation Skipping Trust, and the Duane Connell 2012 Generation Skipping Trust.
Davidson Hotel Company LLC’s officers are Thomas M. Geshay (of Marietta, GA) and Crystal Beasley (of Brookhaven, GA).
Objections, if any, should be made immediately in writing to Angela Lazzari, Municipal Clerk, 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922. Plans of the buildings now under construction as indicated above may be examined at the office of the Municipal Clerk, located at 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922.
