The Lafourche Parish Game and Fish Commission will be accepting bids for 2026 alligator tags in state lands in and around Lake Fields & Lake Long; a map is available at the Commission web site (www.lafourchegfc.org).
The bid for Lake Fields shall be in the form of percentages of value of the alligator for the Commission and the alligator hunter of the “gross value of sales before expenses”. The bid should also contain the hunters name, address, contact information, alligator license number for trapper and any helper, and vessel registration number. A brief resume of experience trapping alligators should be included along with receipts, invoices and other paperwork for any alligator tag contract for the last three years. Any tags not filled shall be assessed a fee of $100/each to the awarded bidder. The bid for Lake fields shall be due on July 13th.
The bid for Lake Long shall be in the form of percentages for the Commission and the alligator hunter of the “gross value of sales before expenses”. The tags for Lake Long and or Lake Fields shall be separate sealed bids and must be received by Friday, June 5th 2026 at: Alligator Bids; Lafourche Parish Game and Fish Commission; P.O. Box 215; Lockport, Louisiana 70374. The Commission may not necessarily select the highest bidder and reserves the right to consider a bid invalid if it does not comply with these rules. Payment shall be in the form of a Cashier’s check made payable to Lafourche Parish Game & Fish Commission and shall be made within 30 days of the close of the season. If payment is not received, a 5% penalty of the gross amount will be accessed 10 days beyond the due date. Failure to comply with requirements may disqualify trappers for future alligator tags.
The applicant must abide by the following rules; alligator tags cannot be used for recreational hunting activities; all alligators must be sold to a licensed buyer; no alligators may be purchased by the hunter or any company to which the hunter is associated with and then sold to another buyer; a copy of the buyer’s invoice must accompany payment to the Commission; and payment must be received no later than 30 days after the close of the season in the form of a Cashier’s check made payable to Lafourche Parish Game & Fish commission.
After bids are received. bidders will be notified of the date, time, and location of bid openings.
