SMP #56080107 – Shaffer Mine – was renewed June 5, 2025 and is located 2 ½ miles south of the Village of Fairhope just east of Comps Road (T-843) in Southampton Township, Somerset County. Bond release of $44,860.80 is requested for 44.4 acres. Total bond held is $44,860.80. The release area was planted 2017-2021 and is eligible for Stage II & III final bond release. SMP #56140105 – Stutzman Mine - was renewed January 28, 2026 and is located on Dead End West Road (T-483) approximately 700 feet east of the intersection with Garrett Shortcut Road (SR 2031) in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County. Bond release of $34,212.00 is requested for 22.6 acres. Total bond held is $34,212.00. The release area was planted as of Fall 2021 and is eligible for Stage II & III final bond release. SMP #56190102 – Beachley Strip - was renewed September 10, 2024 and is located along SR 2047 (Berlin Plank Road) just southeast of the intersection with Menser Road in Somerset Township, Somerset County. Bond release of $29,356.00 is requested for 11.5 acres. Total bond held is $33,006.00.   The release area has been planted as of May 2022 and is eligible for Stage II bond release. Written comments, objections, and requests for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, Cambria Office, Bureau of District Mining Operations, 286 Industrial Park Rd., Ebensburg, PA 15931-4119 within thirty (30) days following the fourth and final publication of this notice.
