LEGAL NOTICE TOWN OF URBANA NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE OF DRAFT ROUTE 54 CORRIDOR DESIGN OVERLAY DISTRICT PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Urbana has accepted for review a draft Route 54 Corridor Design Overlay District intended to guide future development along the Route 54 corridor within the Town. The purpose of the proposed Overlay District is to enhance the aesthetic and visual character of the corridor, improve pedestrian and traffic safety, protect the Town's tourism-based economy, and encourage coordinated, high-quality development. The draft includes proposed standards related to access management, parking, landscaping, signage, site design, and pedestrian connectivity. The Town Board has declared its intent to act as Lead Agency for purposes of environmental review under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). The draft Overlay District has also been referred to the Town Planning Board and the Steuben County Planning Department for review and recommendation. Acceptance of the draft document does not constitute final adoption, and the document remains subject to revision. A public hearing will be scheduled prior to any final adoption by the Town Board.
