The City Council of the City of Fort Myers, Florida, proposes to adopt the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE
To Be Entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT MYERS, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE CITY CODE, CHAPTER 62, PENSIONS, RETIREMENT AND OTHER EMPLOYEE BENEFITS, ARTICLE V, GENERAL EMPLOYEES' PENSION PLAN; AMENDING SECTION 62-190, OPTIONAL FORMS OF BENEFITS; AMENDING SECTION 62-208, DEFERRED RETIREMENT OPTION PLAN; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The Fort Myers City Council will hold a PUBLIC HEARING concerning the proposed enactment of the above titled ordinance in the Council Chambers at Oscar M. Corbin, Jr. City Hall, 2200 Second Street, Fort Myers, Florida, on MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2026, on or about 5:15 o’clock p.m., or as soon thereafter as can be heard. Copies of the proposed ordinance may be obtained or inspected at the City Clerk’s Office in Oscar M. Corbin, Jr. City Hall or viewed at www.fortmyers.gov. Interested parties may appear at the meeting and be heard in respect to the proposed ordinance.
If a person decides to appeal any decision made by City Council with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
