NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A COUNTY ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intent of the Board of County Commissioners of Escambia County (BCC), Florida at a public hearing to be held at 5:32 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in the BCC Meeting Room, First Floor, County Courthouse, 221 Palafox Place, to consider adopting an ordinance to amend the Code of Escambia County as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA CREATING CHAPTER 70, ARTICLE IV, DIVISION 3, SECTIONS 70-524 THROUGH 70-531 ESTABLISHING THE DUNLEITH SUBDIVISION AMENITIES MUNICIPAL SERVICE BENEFIT UNIT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING AMENITY IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN IN THE DISTRICT; DEFINING THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR THE GOVERNANCE OF SAID DISTRICT BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS; PROVIDING FOR LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF A NON-AD VALOREM SPECIAL ASSESSMENT TO DEFRAY THE COSTS OF THE AMENITIES WITHIN THE DISTRICT BASED ON A FAIR AND REASONABLE APPORTIONMENT OF THE COST TO SPECIALLY BENEFITTED PROPERTIES; PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF THE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTION PRESCRIBED BY §197.3632, FLORIDA STATUTES; PROVIDING FOR NO EXEMPTIONS TO THE LEVY; IDENTIFYING THE DUTIES OF THE ESCAMBIA COUNTY CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT, TAX COLLECTOR, AND PROPERTY APPRAISER; PROVIDING FOR AN APPEAL PROCESS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY; PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
All interested parties may appear at the public hearing and be heard with respect to the proposed ordinance. A draft of the ordinance is available for public inspection at the County Courthouse, Deputy Clerk’s Office, 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola, Florida.
Please note any person who decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at the public hearing will need a record of the proceedings of the meeting. Since the BCC does not make verbatim records of its meetings, such person may need to independently secure a record, which should include the testimony or evidence on which the appeal is to be based.
