NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWNSHIP OF BERKELEY HEIGHTS PLANNING BOARD
Please Take notice that on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., the Township of Berkeley Heights ("Township") Planning Board ("Board") will hold a public hearing on the application ("Application") of Lockhern Property II LLC ("Applicant") in the public meeting room at the Township of Berkeley Heights Municipal Building, 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922.
The property ("Property"), which is the subject of the Application, is located at 458 Springfield Avenue, 230 Sherman Avenue, and 428 Springfield Avenue in the Township, and it is designated as Block 702, lots 4, 6 and 17.01 (p/o) on the Township tax maps. The Property is governed by the Terrace II Redevelopment Plan.
This Application seeks preliminary and final major site plan approval for the construction of a three-story inclusionary mixed-use development consisting of thirty-three (33) apartments, commercial space, parking and other site improvements on Block 702, Lots 4 and 6. Seven (7) of the apartments will be affordable housing units. Additional parking for the development will be located on Block 702, Lot 17.01 (through an easement).
The Applicant does not believe that any other approvals, variances, deviations, exceptions, design waivers, or permits are required for the Application. However, the Applicant intends to request at the hearing any other approvals, variances, deviations, permits, exceptions, design waivers and/or permits as may be required to utilize the Property in the manner indicated in the Application materials.
All materials related to the Application are on file with the Board Office at the Township of Berkeley Heights Municipal Building, 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, New Jersey 07922, and are available for public inspection, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., holidays excluded. Although walk-in inspections of the Application materials are permitted, individuals interested in reviewing these Application materials in person at the Board Office are encouraged to contact the Planning Board Secretary, Connie Valenti, at 908-464-2700, ext. 2124, or by e-mail at cvalenti@bhtwp.com, during regular business hours, to schedule an appointment to review same or to ask any questions regarding the Application.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that you may participate at said public hearing to present any and all objections, or support, you may have, and any other general comments, relative to the Application, so that all interested parties may be heard. In addition, the Board may, at its discretion, adjourn, postpone, or continue the said hearing from time to time, and you are notified that you should make inquiry of the Board Secretary concerning such adjournments, postponements, or continuations.
